Why incense beads suit online selling
For an online seller the economics of a product depend as much on freight, returns and listing effort as on the unit itself. An incense bead bracelet weighs about 7-9 g at 8 mm, fits into a small pouch and a padded mailer, and is unlikely to break in transit. It photographs well, it is easy to describe, and it spans several price tiers through sandalwood, agarwood and goose pear. Beads are also reorderable: a design fixed on a formula sheet can be repeated with the same specification.
The challenge is that the product is a botanical one. It reacts to humidity, it must be described accurately in listings, and some lines are subject to export rules. This program is the practical routine for handling those three points.
Packing for light goods and damp climates
Incense beads contain honey and plant powder. If they are stored warm and damp, they can bloom mold or lose scent, so packing is part of the product. Each unit goes into a foil pouch with a desiccant sachet and is sealed; pouches are then packed in cartons that can be opened and re-closed. The standard guidance is the same whether the unit is a bracelet or a bag of loose beads.
- Foil pouch and desiccant inside every unit.
- Cartons lined or sealed against damp; no loose packing in a bare carton.
- Avoid hot warehouses and direct sun during storage, and note this on the card for the end customer.
- A small label with ingredient list, weight and storage instructions.
Pack types and carton sizes are on packaging and gift boxes.
Many SKUs without many headaches
A typical seller starts with a core of three or four designs and expands. The desk makes this manageable by keeping one formula sheet per design and one inspection record per lot. Minimums are counted per design, from about 50-200 pieces for stock designs, so a seller can test several variations without committing to thousands.
| SKU | Role | Typical start per design | Paperwork |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sandalwood bracelet, 8 mm | Core, entry price | About 50-200 | Origin statement, ingredient declaration |
| Sandalwood bracelet, 6 mm and 10 mm | Size range | About 50-200 | As above |
| Agarwood bracelet | Premium tier | About 50-200 | CITES documents per lot |
| 108-bead strand | Gift and practice | About 50-200 | Origin statement |
| Car or bag hanging beads | Add-on item | About 50-200 | Ingredient declaration |
| Loose beads, DIY pack | Craft buyers | About 1-5 kg per size | Ingredient declaration |
Ingredient declarations and listing language
Accurate listings protect the seller. Each lot ships with an ingredient declaration: wood powders, nanmu bark binder, honey, and any finish. Use it as the source for the product page. Describe the scent in sensory words and the origin as stated per lot; do not describe effects on the body or mind. The desk reviews listing text on request, and keeps the declaration, formula sheet and photos for each lot so they are available if a marketplace or customs authority asks for them.
CITES and agarwood lines
Agarwood belongs to the genus Aquilaria, which is in CITES Appendix II. Any line that includes it, such as the agarwood bracelet and goose pear beads, needs export documents per lot, and your destination country may have import rules too. The desk prepares the export side; the import side is for the seller or its customs broker to check. Read the CITES agarwood export documents article for the document chain. Sandalwood lines carry an origin statement instead.
Repeat ordering
A reorder is simpler than a first order because the sheet exists and the retained sample is on file. Reorders typically follow a shorter path of 15-25 working days for stock designs, while batch production commonly runs 25-40 days. The desk keeps the beads, cord and packaging fixed so that restocked items look the same. Changes, for example a new color, go through a short sample round and are confirmed in writing. For ongoing programs, a rolling forecast helps the partner workshop plan drying space.
Illustrative example
An illustrative, anonymous case: a small online shop started with three sandalwood designs of 100 pieces each, shipped by courier in one carton. After sell-through data came in, it added one agarwood design with CITES documents and increased the best-selling sandalwood to 300 on its first reorder.
Ordering notes
Reference ranges, confirmed in writing: stock designs about 50-200 pieces each; private label about 300-1,000; loose beads about 1-5 kg per size. Courier delivery is commonly 3-7 days for samples and small lots. Send your SKU list through the quote form.
