Incense beads for yoga and meditation studios

Studio retail needs small quantities across several designs, a scent that does not fill the room and a product that is easy to explain at the front desk. This program centers on the 108-bead meditation strand and wrist bracelets.

What studios actually need

A yoga or meditation studio is a small retailer with a very specific customer. Members want something meaningful to hold during practice or wear afterwards, the owner wants a modest stock investment, and the product has to fit a shelf near the front desk. Large minimums for one design are a poor fit. A studio is better served by a handful of related designs, each in small quantities, that tell a coherent story.

The incense bead strand answers that need. It combines a familiar form, the 108-bead string used for counting breaths or repetitions in many traditions, with a fragrant wood scent. This page describes how the desk builds such a program, using only ordinary retail terms and a neutral approach to practice.

The 108 strand and the wrist bracelet

A 108 strand carries 108 hand-rolled beads in 6 or 8 mm, with a larger guru bead, as set out on the 108-bead meditation strand page. A 6 mm strand weighs about 35-50 g in total, a little more at 8 mm, and can be worn double-wrapped on the wrist or around the neck. A wrist bracelet uses the same material in 8 mm with 18-22 beads, which is easier to wear during class. Many studios stock both: the strand as the premium item and the bracelet as an easy add-on.

Loose beads and cord kits are covered on the loose incense beads page; they suit studios that run bead-stringing workshops.

Small multi-design orders

Because beads are rolled by hand in small lots, the minimum is counted per design, not for the whole shipment. A studio can order, say, four designs of 50 pieces each in one lot, and the desk packs them together with one inspection round. Designs vary through wood powder (sandalwood tan, agarwood near black), bead size and finishing, such as a polished or matte surface. Stock designs usually start at about 50-200 pieces each, a reference range confirmed in writing. Reorders are simple once a design is fixed, because the formula sheet records it.

Scent neutrality in class

Teachers know that a strong fragrance in a closed room can be a problem for people sensitive to scent. Incense beads on the wrist release their scent mostly through warmth and friction, so the effect is quiet and close to the skin rather than room filling. The desk can sample lower-intensity versions, for example sandalwood with a higher share of binder, or aged beads with a softened top note. If your studio is scent-free, ask for beads made without added herbs or flowers; the sample will let you test by wearing it in a class before you order more.

What to say, and not to say

  • Describe the scent in sensory words: creamy, woody, warm.
  • Where tradition is relevant, say traditionally associated with, and leave it there.
  • Make no claims about calm, sleep, focus or the body. Studios sell practice, not remedies, and the beads are fragrance goods.
  • Keep the description of any religious tradition neutral and factual.

The desk reviews care cards and shelf labels on request. Basics for customers: store sealed when not worn, keep away from heat and direct sun, and do not soak in water.

Illustrative example

An illustrative, anonymous case: a city studio with a small online shop ordered 50 sandalwood 108 strands at 6 mm, 50 bracelets in two colors and 2 kg of loose 8 mm beads for a Sunday workshop. Stock samples arrived in about a week, the order went by courier in one box, and a reorder of the best-selling design followed after a season.

Ordering notes

Reference ranges, confirmed in writing: stock designs from 50-200 pieces each; loose beads from about 1-5 kg per bead size; private-label pouches or cards from about 300-1,000 pieces. Courier delivery is commonly 3-7 days. Send the designs and quantities you have in mind through the quote form.

Questions buyers ask

What is the minimum order for a studio?

Stock designs typically start at about 50-200 pieces each, counted per design. A studio can combine several designs in one shipment. These are reference ranges, confirmed in writing for each order.

Is the scent strong in a closed room?

Not usually. Beads release scent through warmth and friction on the skin. The desk can sample milder versions, and a plain sandalwood bead with no added herbs is the quietest option.

Can we sell the beads as a relaxation aid?

No. The beads are fragrance goods and should be described in sensory terms only. The desk avoids wording about health, sleep or the body, and reviews shelf copy on request.

What is the difference between a 6 mm and 8 mm strand?

A 6 mm strand is lighter and sits compactly on the wrist; an 8 mm strand has a larger hand feel and a bit more weight. Both carry 108 beads. Samples help you choose.

Can we have a tassel or a counter bead?

Yes. Tassels, silk cords and counter beads are standard options on the 108 strand, and are fixed on the formula sheet during sampling.

Send the lines you need, the bead size, the quantity per design and your market. The desk replies in writing with sample options, the formula sheet and the reference MOQ.
