What private label means in this category
Incense beads are a craft product, and most of what a customer sees is the bead itself: its color, its surface, its scent. Private label here therefore means two layers. The first is the product layer, where your mark is pressed or engraved into an incense tablet or pendant, or where a bead size, cord and finishing are specified to your design. The second is the packaging layer, where tags, pouches, bags and boxes carry your name, your text and your story. Ouvare coordinates both layers with partner workshops and packaging suppliers, so that one program has one point of contact and one inspection round.
The desk works as a sourcing coordinator, not as a single factory. For each program it shortlists the workshop that suits the formula and the packaging supplier that suits the format, then keeps artwork, samples and approvals in one thread. That is useful for brands that do not want to manage several suppliers in a language and time zone they do not work in.
What can be branded
| Element | How it is branded | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Incense tablet or pendant | Intaglio (recessed) logo or short text pressed into the paste | Vector artwork, tablet size, thickness 3-6 mm, cord or tassel |
| Bead bracelet | Bead size, cord, spacer, finish and a branded tag | Size, count, cord type, finish |
| Hang tag | Printed card on string or attached to the cord | Dimensions, paper, text, language |
| Foil pouch | Printed or labelled pouch with desiccant | Pouch size, label text, barcode |
| Cloth bag | Printed or tagged drawstring bag | Fabric, color, print position |
| Gift box | Printed kraft or lacquer-style box with insert | Box size, insert, finish, sleeve |
The intaglio mark deserves a note. Because the tablet is pressed from incense paste and then dried, fine lines and small text can fill in or crack at the edges. Simple shapes with a line width that the workshop can reproduce hold best, and the mould is proofed on a test pressing before the batch. The product page for incense tablet pendants shows the sizes in common use.
How proofs and approvals work
- You send artwork as vector files plus a short brief: sizes, text, colors and the packaging format.
- The desk returns a dimensioned proof for tags, pouches and boxes, and a mould sketch for any engraved tablet.
- A physical sample is made with the real materials, including the engraved tablet and the printed packaging where practical.
- You approve the sample in writing. The approved sample is retained by the desk as the reference for inspection.
- The batch is produced and checked against that retained sample before packing.
Printing colors on packaging can vary slightly between suppliers and papers, so a physical sample is the only reliable reference. The desk advises approving the real sample, not only a screen proof. Details of the sampling steps are on the sourcing process page.
What cannot be done
Two limits are firm, and they protect your brand as much as the desk.
- No third-party brand marks. The desk does not reproduce other companies' names, logos or distinctive packaging. If a design is too close to an established brand, it is declined or reworked.
- No health claims on packaging. Incense beads are fragrance and craft goods. Packaging text should describe scent, materials and care, and should not state that the product relieves, prevents or changes any health condition. Traditional associations can be described carefully, for example that sandalwood is traditionally associated with calm, but outcomes are not promised. Target markets have their own labelling rules, so the final wording is yours to confirm.
The desk will also decline requests that conflict with the declared materials, such as describing a blended bead as pure agarwood. Material statements follow the formula sheet and the documents for each lot, which are summarised on the compliance page.
Typical quantities
As a reference only, stock bracelets without branding typically start from 50-200 pieces per design. Private label with engraved or boxed packaging usually starts at about 300-1,000 pieces per design, and a custom formula from about 500 pieces with sample rounds. Minimums are counted per design because setup, moulds and printing are fixed work whatever the quantity. Multiple bead sizes under one design name can sometimes share packaging, which lowers the effective minimum. All ranges are typical references and are confirmed in writing for each program.
Starting a private label program
The quickest route is to name the line, the quantity per design, the target market and the packaging format. If you are choosing between lines, the bracelet family overview compares them. For a boxed set, see the bracelet and sachet set. Send details through the quote form and the desk replies with options, a sample plan and a written reference range for your program.
