Incense beads for fragrance and lifestyle brands

A wearable scent that carries no synthetic oil and comes with a formula you can tell a story about. This program is built for brands that already sell candles, mists or home fragrance and want a new, tactile product line. Start with the bracelet range.

Why fragrance brands add incense beads

Candles, room sprays and body mists compete on scent notes that are almost always built from blended oils. An incense bead competes differently. It is a solid object made from wood powder, worn on the wrist, and its scent comes from the material itself rather than from an added oil. For a fragrance or lifestyle brand that wants to talk about natural materials, that is a clear point of difference, and it sits comfortably next to an existing home fragrance range because customers already understand the idea of scented wood.

The product is also light and small. A bracelet weighs about 7-9 g at 8 mm, ships in a foil pouch, and does not melt, leak or need a burner. That makes it easy to add to an online store, a pop-up or a gift set without rebuilding logistics.

Building scent families from three materials

Most brands do not need a long list of scents. The craft gives three natural bases that behave differently, and a family can be built from them plus one or two accents.

A common structure is two core SKUs and one seasonal, each in two bead sizes. The sandalwood bracelet and agarwood bracelet pages list the standard compositions. For a scent of your own, see custom blended incense.

Formula sheets as brand story material

Every program starts with a formula sheet: ingredients with percentages by weight, bead size, count, weight and scent description. Fragrance brands tend to underuse it. A sheet that reads "sandalwood powder, nanmu bark binder, honey" is already more specific than most scented products on the market. The goose pear version goes further, because its recipe is recorded in the Song dynasty Chen Shi Xiang Pu and can be set out line by line next to the modern bead version, as on the goose pear page.

The desk reviews any copy that uses the sheet, so statements match what the partner workshop actually does. That means no claims about effects on mood or the body: write sensory descriptions, and where tradition is relevant, use phrases such as traditionally associated with. Ancient formulas have their own history in the formula guide.

No synthetic oils, and how to say so

The standard specification contains no synthetic fragrance oil and no industrial glue. Beads are bound with nanmu bark powder, usually about 25% of the powder weight, with a little honey. We confirm this in writing for each order and the ingredient declaration travels with the shipment. If you want to add an essential oil or any other ingredient, it is sampled first and appears on the sheet; the desk will not leave it out of the declaration. Read more on nanmu binder.

Packaging and brand presentation

  • Protection. Foil pouch with desiccant inside every unit, because a damp bead can bloom mold.
  • Retail. Cloth bag, kraft box or rigid box with your artwork, plus a card carrying care and formula text.
  • Incense tablets. Pressed tablets with an engraved logo can serve as a brand charm; see the incense tablet pendant.

Packaging options, artwork approval and inserts are described on packaging and gift boxes.

Illustrative example

An illustrative, anonymous case: a European home fragrance brand with an online store wanted a small wearable add-on for its autumn range. It chose two sandalwood bracelets, 8 mm in natural tan and with a gold-leaf fleck, plus one agarwood bracelet in a rigid box. The desk ran one sample round, fixed a formula sheet, and the brand used the sheet text on its product pages after review.

Ordering notes

Typical reference ranges, confirmed in writing for each program: stock bracelets from about 50-200 pieces per design, private-label packaging from about 300-1,000 pieces, a custom formula from about 500 pieces with sample rounds. Samples take 5-10 working days for stock beads and 15-25 days for a custom formula. Send your range plan through the quote form.

Questions buyers ask

Can the beads be described as fragrance-free of synthetic oil?

The standard specification uses natural powders only, and the desk confirms this in writing for each order, with an ingredient declaration. If an additive is requested, it is sampled and listed on the sheet before it can be described.

How many SKUs should a first range have?

Two or three. A typical start is sandalwood in two sizes, one agarwood premium and one seasonal variation. More SKUs can follow once sell-through data exists, since minimums are counted per design.

Can we use the formula sheet in our marketing?

Yes, after review by the desk. The sheet lists real ingredients and percentages. Copy should stay sensory and avoid claims about the body or mood.

Will every batch smell identical?

Within the natural range of wood powders. Each lot is compared with a retained scent sample before shipping, but hand-rolled botanical beads vary slightly, and the desk can record an accepted tolerance.

Do we need documents for agarwood SKUs?

Yes. Aquilaria is listed in CITES Appendix II, so export documents are prepared per lot. See CITES agarwood export documents.

Send the lines you need, the bead size, the quantity per design and your market. The desk replies in writing with sample options, the formula sheet and the reference MOQ.
